About Dr C. P. Ravi Kumar

Paediatric Neurologist | Caring for Children with Brain and Development Concerns

I am a Paediatric Neurologist with over 20 years of experience caring for children with brain, nerve, and developmental problems. I help parents understand what is happening with their child and guide them step by step through treatment and long-term care.

I currently work as Lead and Senior Consultant – Paediatric Neurosciences at KRISHNA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES (KIMS Hospital), Bengaluru.

How I Help

Parents usually come to me feeling worried, confused, or tired after seeing many doctors. My role is to bring clarity and a clear plan.

I help by:

  • Listening carefully to parents’ concerns
  • Explaining the child’s condition in simple language
  • Discussing treatment options honestly
  • Planning care that suits the child and family

I commonly treat children with:

  • Epilepsy and seizures
  • Developmental delay and autism
  • Learning and behaviour difficulties
  • Genetic and metabolic conditions affecting the brain
  • Headaches and other neurological problems

My Training and Experience

I completed my paediatric and neurology training in the United Kingdom. I am certified in paediatrics (UK) and received special training in childhood epilepsy and paediatric neurology in London. I also trained in EEG interpretation in the United States. Before returning to India, I worked in well-known children’s hospitals in the UK, caring for children with complex neurological conditions.

From 2017 to 2025, in my previous tenure, I helped build a complete child neurology and development service in Bengaluru, where doctors, therapists, psychologists, and dieticians worked together under one roof.

Care Beyond the Hospital

In 2021, I started Brain Child Trust, a non-profit organisation that supports children with neurological and developmental disabilities, especially families who need extra help. Through this work, I focus on:

  • Parent education
  • Access to therapy services
  • Community awareness and support

My Approach to Care

Every child is different. Children with neurological conditions need time, patience, and teamwork.

My approach is based on:

  • Early support and therapy when needed
  • Treatments based on medical evidence
  • Working closely with therapists, teachers, and other doctors
  • Clear and open communication with families
